It was the sea which united Jean-Claude Herbelin (President of MICHEL HERBELIN) and Jean-Pierre Dick, a well-known skipper. As a source of inspiration for the former and a place of expression for the latter, the sea constantly demands know-how, precision and discipline, all values which equally apply to the work of the watchmaker.
Forged in the spring of 2008, this partnership formally symbolises the meeting of two exceptional men, with the aim of promoting the key values which have always motivated them, including: innovation, boldness, commitment and hard work.

Jean-Pierre Dick’s new challenge is the Vendée Globe, which began on November 9, 2008. He left with his blue Newport Trophy Grand Sport watch (ref 36690/BAB15), the perfect choice as it combines sportiness with elegance. It’s certainly no coincidence if Loïck Peyron has nicknamed Jean-Pierre Dick “the gentleman-skipper”!

Jean-Pierre’s unusual offshore yacht racing career started out with a fierce passion for yacht racing as a youngster, a bug he caught from his father. Jean-Pierre thrived on racing round the seas. From one race to anoth er, he forged a competitive spirit which commanded respect. Jean-Pierre is highly methodical and steers his projects the same way as he runs a business. He demonstrated that there is just a small step from the business world to the yacht racing world. He managed to bridge that gap by aiming high and not letting go. Out on the race course, he takes pleasure in the contact with nature.
